SCL Seminar by Mariya Medvedyeva

Scientific Computing Laboratory seminar will be held on Friday, 14 October 2016 at 14:00 in the library reading room “Dr. Dragan Popović" of the Institute of Physics Belgrade. The talk entitled

"Slow Approach to the Non-equilibrium Steady State"

will be given by Dr. Mariya Medvedyeva (Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia).

Abstract of the talk:

The system influenced by environment is not in its ground state, but in the non-equilibrium stationary state (NESS), which has different properties compared to the ground state. An important question how fast the NESS is reached. We will show results for the case when the dynamics in the bath is faster than in the system itself, and the dynamics can be described by the Lindblad equation. First, we will see the power law approach to the NESS for the current when the system is coupled to reservoirs that induce current throughout the system [1]. Second, we will see diffusive dynamics at long time scales for systems with dephasing (for example, induced by the light scattering), which happens both in the disorderd [2] and translationally invariant systems [3].
