IPB Seminar by Joanna Gordon Casey

You are cordially invited to the IPB seminar, which will be held (in person!) on Thursday, 24 November 2022 at 12:00 in the library reading room “Dr. Dragan Popović" of the Institute of Physics Belgrade. The talk entitled

Methane satellite data observations, gas phase air pollution measurements, application of calibration techniques based on artificial intelligence

will be given by Dr. Joanna Gordon Casey (Fort Lewis College, Colorado, USA). The abstract of the talk:

Emissions of air pollutants and greenhouse gases are often variable in time and spatially complex. Existing instruments and platforms that can be used to measure concentrations to inform emissions and exposure are expensive, making it difficult to collect measurements that are continuous in time while achieving sufficient spatial coverage. Satellite observations and emerging low-cost sensor systems that can be deployed in spatially distributed networks have potential to improve our understanding of emissions and from complex sources and exposure to air pollution. This talk will provide an overview of applications of these emerging tools, including visualization of satellite measurements to identify hotspots and calibration techniques for low-cost gas sensors.
