Forward modeling the large-scale structure -- from effective field theory to dark matter constraints

will be given by Andrija Kostić (Max Planck institute for Astrophysics, Garching, Germany). The abstract of the talk:

The constraining power promised by future large-scale structure surveys has driven the development of ever better techniques for extracting cosmological information from those datasets. Increase in the expected number of modes that could be well within the reach of the theory offers an improvement of few orders of magnitude with respect to cosmic microwave background. However, this extra information is hidden within the non-linear structures and hence it is necessary to very carefully model different physics at play in order to responsibly deal with the upcoming datasets. In the talk we will present recent efforts of merging the effective field theory approach to structure formation with the field-level inference, trying to extract cosmological information Fourier mode by Fourier mode, and demonstrate their potential for modeling the upcoming data from future large-scale structure surveys. Furthermore, we will show how the field-level modeling can also offer insights into the local universe, from which constraints on dark matter can be derived. If time allows it, we will also present an interesting side product of field-level inference machinery, informing us on how future surveys should be conducted in order to more efficiently constrain
cosmological models at hand.
