PRACE-1IP Kick-off Meeting

Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe (PRACE) is a wide initiative which aims to create and provide unique persistent pan-European Research Infrastructure for high-performance computing. Serbia has joined PRACE initiative in December 2008, in line with its activities on establishing National Supercomputing and Data Storage Facility "Blue Danube".

The work on the first implementation phase in establishing PRACE research infrastructure (PRACE-1IP project) was officially kicked-off at the meeting held at the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (Leibniz-Rechenzentrum, LRZ) in Garching near Munich on 30-31 August 2010. During the meeting, more than 100 participants from 20 PRACE countries contributed in the development of the detailed plan and distribution of work in various activities of the project. Serbia is represented in PRACE-1IP by the Scientific Computing Laboratory of the Institute of Physics Belgrade. SCL's Aleksandar Belic, Antun Balaz, and Dusan Vudragovic participated in the kick-off meeting, and discussed IPB's involvement in work packages related to dissemination and training (WP3), enabling petascale applications (WP7), and future technologies watch (WP9).
