On 16 December 2008 in Barcelona, Spain, Serbia has officially become a general partner of Partnersihip for Advanced Computing in Europe (PRACE).

The accession documents were signed on behalf of The Institute of Physics Belgrade by Dr Aleksandar Belic, head of the Scientific Computing Laboratory (SCL), the referent institution representing Serbia in European initiatives aimed at the creation of pan-European high performance computing services.

On behalf of PRACE the documents were signed by the President of the consortium, Prof Francesc Subirada , Associated Director of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center.
